Office Administrator Vacancy

We require an Office Administrator to provide support to our well-established and busy accountancy firm located in a beautiful rural setting close to Alresford.

Butler & Co has 4 directors and a friendly, diverse team of 25 employees. This is a varied role and we are looking for a positive and enthusiastic person with excellent communication and IT skills. The successful candidate must possess good organisational skills and attention to detail and have previous administration experience (within a firm of accountants useful but not essential).

As an Administrator you will work as part of a small team supporting the Directors and the Accounts and Tax Departments. Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • General secretarial responsibilities including typing and preparing letters for the Directors and Managers
  • Assisting with reception (answering the phone, greeting clients, opening, logging & franking the post etc) as required
  • Arranging meetings and keeping diaries updated
  • Answering enquiries from clients and senior staff
  • The administration of time & fees/month end procedures
  • Purchasing office supplies
  • Arranging and maintaining office contracts

This role is ideally full-time Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week from 9:00am to 5:30pm (although we can be flexible on start/finish times and 4 days per week would be considered) and is largely office based with some scope for home working. The salary will be in the region of £25,000 to £27,000 pa depending on experience. Due to location, access to your own transport is essential.

Exciting Accounts Trainee Opportunity

We require an Accounts Trainee to provide support to our busy practice located in a beautiful rural setting close to Alresford.

Butler & Co has 4 directors and a friendly, diverse team of 25 employees. The successful candidate will have good IT, numeracy and communication skills together with the ability to work as part of a team. There will be a requirement to undertake the AAT qualification which will be paid for by the firm together with paid study leave. Previous office experience is not necessary, however candidates must be enthusiastic and keen to learn.

The role will include assisting with the preparation of sole trade, partnership and limited company accounts as well as tax computations, preparation of VAT Returns, and assisting with bookkeeping and payroll etc, using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Quickbooks and IRIS. Full training will be provided. Butler & Co has clients both local and nationwide across many sectors including farming and rural businesses, equine, professional practices, owner managed businesses, charities and landed estates.

This role is full-time Monday to Friday and offers an excellent opportunity for career development with the possibility to complete higher qualifications in ACA or ACCA as we are looking for someone long-term to progress within the firm. The starting salary will be national minimum wage for age with further regular salary reviews based on completion of exams and progression.
