Julie qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 and started Butler & Co in 1986. Julie is a farm and equine tax expert and the author of Tax Planning for Farm and Land Diversification and Equine Tax Planning. Her articles are published in the national accountancy and tax press and her work has also been quoted and re-produced in all the broadsheets and financial pages as well as the online forums TaxationWeb and Scopulas. Julie is currently part of the team updating Stanley: Taxation of Farmers and Landowners.
Stephen is a Partner of Butler & Co and also the managing director of Butler & Co (Bishops Waltham) Limited. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980. Stephen trained with a firm in Southampton and worked for several practices mainly in the Southampton area before joining Butler & Co and becoming a partner in 1993. Stephen has great experience providing excellent client care and quality solutions to local businesses and individuals.
Andy joined Butler & Co in December 1999. He is a fellow member of the AAT and is currently sitting his final exams for the certified qualification (ACCA). His main area of expertise is owner-managed businesses, whether limited companies, partnerships or sole trades. His broad experience also includes start-ups, corporation tax and VAT.
Neil joined Butler & Co in January 2002 as an accounts trainee and was promoted to Accounts Manager from 1 January 2012. Neil is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and we are pleased to announce that Neil has successfully passed his ACCA exams and is now fully qualified. Neil has expertise in limited companies, sole traders and partnerships, he is able to both provide advice and assistance with compliance issues.
Lucy joined Butler & Co in 2007 as an accounts trainee and was promoted to Accounts Manager of the Farming & Equine Department from January 2012. Lucy is also a Tax Enquiry Manager at Butler & Co where she manages the tax enquiries and the day to day running of this department. Lucy is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and is now studying for her Chartered Accountancy (ACA) qualification. Lucy has a wide range of skills from working in both the accounts and tax departments.
Andrew joined Butler & Co in August 2011 having previously worked in practice and graduating from University of Portsmouth in 2005 with a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting. Andrew has five years practice experience and is the Accounts Assistant Manager for the Farming and Equine Department at Butler & Co, whilst studying for his final ACCA exams.
Alistair joined Butler & Co in May 2012 as an Accounts Senior. Alistair’s responsibilities include the preparation of year end accounts, carrying out client bookkeeping, preparing client VAT returns and preparing management reports. Alistair is part of Butler & Co’s training team and has recently been appointed as the Assistant Money Laundering Reporting Officer. Alistair is continuing his studies to become ACCA qualified.
Russell joined Butler & Co in July 2011 as an Accounts Senior, following two years at leading city based practice. Having passed ACA exams up to the professional level, Russell is currently preparing to take his Associate Tax Technician papers in order to enhance his knowledge in this key area. Russell has experience in all aspects of accountancy, from providing support to sole trade enterprise start-ups, to producing business plans for limited companies, in order for them to meet their future objectives and strategy.
Alex came straight from school to Butler & Co in July 2010 as an accounts trainee. Alex became a fully qualified member of the AAT in 2012, with a first time pass and is now an Accounts Semi-Senior.
Hannah joined Butler & Co in March 2011 as an Accounts Trainee in the Farming and Equine Department. Hannah has successfully passed her exams and is now fully AAT qualified. She also has recently been given the role of Accounts Semi-Senior/Payroll Assistant Manager.
Matthew joined Butler & Co in October 2011 as one of Butler & Co’s AAT Apprentices. Matthew is speeding his way through the AAT qualification and will be starting Level 3 this Autumn.
Trevor had recently joined the Butler & Co tax team as our new Senior Tax Manager. He has over 26 years of experience of working in tax and has worked for a variety of small, medium and large firms. Trevor specialises in personal tax compliance and planning and has many years of experience in income tax, capital gains tax, property taxation, non-residence and domicile issues, partnership taxation and the construction industry.
Fred joined Butler & Co in September 2012 as a Tax Senior in the Farming and Equine Department. He spent 3 years at the University of the West England where he graduated with a 2:1 in Business and Economics. He then spent a year at Bristol University where he obtained a Masters in International Development. Fred is currently studying for his ATT qualifications.
Vicky joined Butler & Co in November 2011 as a Tax Assistant working alongside our Tax Manager and Managers; she actively supports the day-to-day running of the tax department.
Su has been with Butler & Co since April 2000 as part of the Tax team, Su is responsible for the preparation of Tax Returns and training of our tax trainees.
Sarah (Head of Marketing and Human Resources), joined Butler & Co in April 1997 and has played a key role ever since. Sarah organises all events and deals with general marketing at Butler & Co, together with recruitment and other staff issues.
Amelia joined Butler & Co in September 2003, and is now Office Manager along with supporting Julie as her Personal Assistant. Amelia organises Julie’s appointments and will often deal with clients in her absence, together with general management of the office.
Pauline has been with Butler & Co since July 2002 as the Accounts Department PA. Pauline provides secretarial support to the Accounts Department and provides an overview to ensure all accounts filing deadlines are met.
Sandie has been with Butler & Co since May 2005 as our Office Assistant. Sandie is in charge of all filing and archiving and also provides reception cover when required.
Beth has been with Butler & Co since October 2010 and since her time here Beth has successfully achieved NVQ levels 2 & 3 in Business Admin. Beth has also been promoted to Marketing Assistant where she works closely with the Managing Partner on all our in house marketing projects.
Elizabeth joined the Butler & Co team in May 2012 as Receptionist and Admin Assistant. She is the first point of contact when you telephone or call in to Butler & Co and has a variety of roles that includes typing and working closely with our Office Manager, Amelia.
