Julie Butler is a farm and equine tax expert and the author of Tax Planning for Farm and Land Diversification and Equine Tax Planning. Her articles are published in the national accountancy and tax press and her work has also been quoted and re-produced in all the broadsheets and financial pages as well as the online forums TaxationWeb and Scopulas.

Staff

Accounts Managers

Andy Case FMAAT

Andy joined Butler & Co in December 1999.  He is a fellow member of the AAT and is currently sitting his final exams for the certified qualification (ACCA).  His main area of expertise is owner-managed businesses, whether limited companies, partnerships or sole trades.  His broad experience also includes start-ups, corporation tax and VAT.

John Brimecome FCCA BA (Hons)

John joined Butler & Co in May 2006 as Accounts manager. He gained an honours degree from Portsmouth University in Accountancy in 1994 and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2000. His experience comes from a strong auditing and accountancy background dealing mainly with Limited Companies, general sole trade and partnership accounts. His other strengths include extensive knowledge of Payroll and Sage Software.

Mike Butler

Mike joined Butler & Co in November 2004 as Accounts Senior. With his extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of Accountancy, and accounting software such as Sage and Farmplan Mike is a key member of the team.

Clare Wade

Clare joined Butler & Co in September 2007 as the equine and farming accounts manager. She gained an HND in equine studies from Aberystwyth University in 2001 and is sitting her final exam for the certified qualification (ACCA). Her experience comes from an auditing and accountancy background dealing with sole traders, partnerships, LLP’s and Limited companies. Her equine qualification, rural background and accountancy experience combine perfectly in her role as equine and farming manager.

Tax Managers

Sarah Brown

Sarah joined Butler & Co in June 2009 as Tax Manager after previously working with two “top ten” accountancy firms. Her career started with the Inland Revenue in London, before moving to private practice and qualifying with the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1992. Sarah has a broad experience of direct taxes especially in relation to owner managed businesses, personal taxation and capital gains tax.

Liz Fudge

Liz has been a tax manager at Butler & Co since May 2007. She initially trained with a top ten London firm of accountants, before moving back to the Winchester Area. Liz specialises in personal tax and capital gains tax, and is a key member of the tax department team.

Keith Loader

Keith has 10 years experience with HM Revenue & Customs. He has worked in private practice since May 1990, previously with Baker Tilly until December 2008 for 9 years. Keith is experienced in personal tax, corporation tax, tax planning and tax compliance and AAT qualified in July 1992.

Admin Managers

Sarah Pearce

Sarah (Head of Marketing and Human Resources), joined Butler & Co in April 1997 and has played a key role ever since. Sarah organises all events and deals with general marketing at Butler & Co, together with recruitment and other staff issues.

Amelia Crowley

Amelia joined Butler & Co in September 2003, and is now Office Manager along with supporting Julie as her Personal Assistant. Amelia organises Julie’s appointments and will often deal with clients in her absence, together with general management of the office.
