Julie Butler

Julie is a farm and equine tax expert and the author of Tax Planning for Farm and Land Diversification and Equine Tax Planning. Her articles are published in the national accountancy and tax press and her work has also been quoted and re-produced in all the broadsheets and financial pages as well as the online forums TaxationWeb and Scopulas.

Nicholas Wheeler LLB (Hons) ATT

Nicholas became Tax Partner at Butler & Co from 1 January 2012 where he heads up the tax team.  Nick obtained his ATT qualification with a local regional practice in 2009 and has had a broad range of experience in both business and personal tax matters. He leads the tax compliance, tax planning and tax enquiry departments.

Accounts Managers

Andy Case FMAAT

Andy joined Butler & Co in December 1999. He is a fellow member of the AAT and is currently sitting his final exams for the certified qualification (ACCA). His main area of expertise is owner-managed businesses, whether limited companies, partnerships or sole trades. His broad experience also includes start-ups, corporation tax and VAT.

John Brimecome FCCA BA (Hons)

John joined Butler & Co in May 2006 as Accounts manager. He gained an honours degree from Portsmouth University in Accountancy in 1994 and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2000. His experience comes from a strong auditing and accountancy background dealing mainly with Limited Companies, general sole trade and partnership accounts. His other strengths include extensive knowledge of Payroll and Sage Software.

Mike Butler

Mike joined Butler & Co in November 2004 and is now our Bloodstock and Faming Manager. His personal background is in farming and with his experience working on the family farm and with horses gives him overall knowledge from both sides of the fence. His other strengths include extensive knowledge of bookkeeping packages such as Sage and Key Accounts.

Tax Managers

Keith Loader

Keith has 10 years experience with HM Revenue & Customs. He has worked in private practice since May 1990, previously with Baker Tilly until December 2008 for 9 years. Keith is experienced in personal tax, corporation tax, tax planning and tax compliance and AAT qualified in July 1992.

Edward Forster - Assistant Tax Manager

Edward has been a dedicated member of the team at Butler & Co in the taxation department for many years and has recently been promoted to Tax Assistant Manager.  Edward has a large amount of experience in personal tax and currently is in charge of the compliance department.

Admin Managers

Sarah Pearce

Sarah (Head of Marketing and Human Resources), joined Butler & Co in April 1997 and has played a key role ever since. Sarah organises all events and deals with general marketing at Butler & Co, together with recruitment and other staff issues.

Amelia Crowley

Amelia joined Butler & Co in September 2003, and is now Office Manager along with supporting Julie as her Personal Assistant. Amelia organises Julie’s appointments and will often deal with clients in her absence, together with general management of the office.
